These are the questions clients commonly ask before a shoot. They may help you in preparation for your session but please feel free to contact us if you have more specific questions and we will be happy to address them directly.
What does the session fee cover?
The fee covers the cost of your photoshoot, a viewing session in your home and one 8" X 10" print in a presentation mount.
What should I wear?
It's important that whatever you choose to wear you feel comfortable. Avoid clothes with large patterns, logos or writing and when planning group shots everyone should be dressed in a similar style i.e. either all formal or all casual but not a combination of both. Consider how each person's clothing will look as part of a group and also if the colours clash if you are considering colour portraits.
What about hair and makeup?
By all means get dressed up - you want to look your best for your portrait but please don't choose excessive makeup if you normally don't wear that much. Avoid shiny, brightly coloured eyeshadow. Strong coloured lipstick works well in B&W shots, as do clearly defined eyebrows as they help to frame your face. Be sure to have some translucent face powder on hand for everyone as it helps to eliminate shiny spots. And don't forget your nails...
How long is a session?
As long as it takes. The average time with small children is about 3 hours but I can adjust that time up or down as required. I'm happy to wait if you need to change or feed a baby or even put them down for a quick nap. It's best to allow plenty of time and not have anything planned straight after so we're not constrained by other commitments. Also try to plan your session time for just after your child's nap so they feel refreshed and are less likely to be cranky.
What does the viewing session entail?
I will return within a week to show you the best images from your session. You will have the opportunity at this stage to choose your favourite images and place your order. During your session I will photograph any walls you are considering for your portraits and I can then show you on your TV how framed portraits and canvases will look on your very own walls.
Can we talk money?
Once you have reviewed your images you can then choose your framed portraits and they will be delivered within 4-6 weeks.
A non refundable deposit of 50% of the outstanding balance is required at this stage.
How do I book?
Simply contact us via the website outlining your preferred date and we'll take it from there. Weekends are always busy so do try to book as far in advance as possible. If you are flexible and available at short notice there is a cancellation list if you would like a weekend shoot sooner rather than later.
I have to cancel - is there a charge?
Children are unpredictable so if you need to reschedule it's not a problem - you are not penalised for it. Please just try to let us know as far in advance as possible so we can offer your session to another client on the waiting list.
